The Story of Mathers Tree Service

What inspired you to start your business?

Mitch and his dad, Rich, started Mathers Tree Service in 2012, although at that time Rich had been climbing trees for over 30 years. He worked for various companies in the Bay Area and was somewhat of a tree climbing legend. Mitch graduated from college as the 2008 recession was in full swing and thus Mathers Tree Service was born. I joined them full time in 2016 as Mitch and I were getting ready to start our family. We are really thankful for the flexibility that owning our own businesses gives us during these early years with our kids. 

What makes your business unique?

We are more of a boutique tree service, meaning that we are never going to be a giant service with trucks all over town. Our goal with our business is to keep it a size where we can really make sure that all of our clients are well cared for and we are only taking on as much as we know we can handle WELL. We would never let our standard of service drop because of a bottom line. 

Your favorite part of serving the community?

We really view ourselves as our client's neighbors and try to give the level of service and knowledge that we would give to an old friend. We love being able to make our living doing very honest work that not only keeps our neighbor's homes and families safe, but contributes to the beautification of all the cities we serve.
